As with most of my original works, I create titles for them based on expressions and euphemisms in life. I cherish the English language and all it's eccentricities.
Expressions often make you laugh out loud (many southern sayings' come to mind), bring comfort in times of difficulty and often represent language of a bygone era that can still be applied to every day situations, giving the expression more color and personality--just like my paintings!
The story behind this painting:
Someone once said to me "Well, aren't you sunshine on toast!"
An expression I'd never heard.....
She told me it meant I was a morning person, a "go getter" and full of energy and happiness in the early hours of the day.
I found this expression funny and fascinating. It is true, I am a morning person. This painting (which was painted over many mornings) brings all the morning sunshine and light to life with its pearlescent shimmmer and sunny color scheme.
Whether you ARE a morning person or you'd like to be more of a morning person---this painting represents rising with ambition ready to seize the day and live your mornings as "sunshine on toast"
