Client Spotlight: Kitchen Facelift on a Budget

(AFTER)

I thoroughly enjoyed this project because making a few minor changes resulted in a very nice "kitchen facelift." for under $3000 with labor and materials. (this kitchen needed all the cabinets painted, which added to the cost)

This project was unique since my client is located in another state, so we primarily communicated through text messaging, believe it or not!

This kitchen had a "cookie cutter" feel to it and the client wanted something that would make it feel more personalized and up to date.

She sent me photos of the things she really disliked about her kitchen and we came up with a plan.

The first decision was to improve the look of her backsplash without actually having to REDO the backsplash. We decided it was best to paint the backsplash tile to update it in a fresh white paint.

Then, I sent her pictures and ideas boards and she decided she loved the idea of painting the island black (and eventually her other lower cabinets) and replacing the silver round knob hardware with some pretty brass modern hardware.

The biggest undertaking was the removal of the fluorescent light and sheet rock repair, but it turned out to be relatively inexpensive and made a HUGE difference!

Here is the BEFORE of her kitchen.

BROWN DIAMOND TILE BACKSPLASH BEFORE

Amazing what a coat of paint can do to a backsplash...

BACKSPLASH....A nice lovely neutral color for A LOT less than the labor and expense of a new tile backsplash.

Now onto the new faucet...

CLOSEUP OF THE PAINTED BACK SPLASH

Added a lovely brass faucet. I have linked another option with large spray nozzle HERE.

NEXT....

Painted island matte black. Paint color, (Ben Moore Iron Ore)

Replaced hardware on cabinets with THIS HARDWARE(linked) in brushed brass.

KITCHEN AFTER

LAST BUT NOT LEAST!

Electrician and Sheetrock to replace the old Fluorescent light over island with this new, gorgeous black and brass LIGHT (linked)

Added a new runner rug, I don't have a link for this rug because each rug I find for my clients is usually one of a kind (but a bargain).

But, here is a similar RUG from Etsy. And another slightly different one, but a RUG from pottery barn that also comes in a light pink.

And my work here is done. If you need help revamping any room or space in your home (or several) please reach out to me via @carolineshomedesigns for more information. I will be adding e-design packages soon to my new website.

BYE BYE COOKIE CUTTER....
